Nod32 update generator useing nod32view working for all versions

In my previous hub I discussed downloading and updating virus signature database of nod32 offline.

The tutorial was about how to download a fresh copy of virus signature database and reuse them.Now what about those who already updated their ESET product and now want to have a clean install.Rushella pointed that out and ask whether it is possible to create a backup of currently installed database and reuse it after a fresh install of OS/ESET.In other words a update generator.

I searched on google and found that there is a tool called nod32updategen,but no longer supported with the new versions of ESET.Somebody claimed it works after some tweaking.

But I found another simple way, here it is

First goto where ESET store its update files,

in Xp the path is :

ESS ► C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Updfiles

NOD32 ► C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Nod32\Updfiles

In Vista and Windows Seven

ESS ► C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Updfiles

NOD32 ►D:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Nod32\Updfiles

Where c: is your installation drive.

In those folder you will see many .nup files and one upd.ver file.

Now rename upd.ver to update.ver

Copy the path in explorer window.

From here it comes two options,

If you don't want to use NOD32view as backup tool,

Back one level in windows explorer and copy the whole updfiles folder, copy it to another drive,(say D:\).The backup processes is done.Skip to updating ESS/NOD32

Using NOD32view as backup tool,(It is recommended if you don't go through the whole process,just read the previous tutorial )

• open NoD32view, there is a text box at top left named NEW SERVER
• Paste the path of the installed database,(like as before for xp,C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Updfiles)
• Click on test, there will be a pop up showing that nod32view has found a valid server,click on yes.
• Now you can see the custom server in the window right click on it and click on update mirror,the NOd32view server will be updated to your current installed database
  

Now its time to update the ESET/NOD32

For those who are using nod32view,

• Open nod32/ESS window by double clicking on tray icon,Hit F5.Click on update on left side pan the edit server on right hand side,
• put the nod32view folder path there. for D:\nod32view\est_upd , (if you have extracted nod32view in D:\)

For those who are not using nod32view,

• Open nod32/ESS window by double clicking on tray icon,Hit F5.Click on update on left side pan the edit server on right hand side,
• put the copied updfiles folder path, say D:\updfiles\ if you have copied that folder to D:\
  

Then update your antivirus.
